Aggressive Heatwaves in June are spreading across Europe - over a hundred are killed

Nasa Sun Surface

Tenberal correspondent Simon Wong reports:

Heatwaves are currently attacking Western Europe: in countries like France, Italy and the UK. France is currently the hardest hit by the early summer heatwave, having just recorded its hottest-ever June day and night. Météo-France has placed 54 departments—about half the country—under a critical red alert, with daytime temperatures forecast to stay above 40°C  across western and central regions, peaking at a staggering 43°C  in Bordeaux. The extreme conditions have forced the closure of over 1,300 schools and severe disruptions to public transport. Tragically, the crisis has already claimed numerous lives; officials have confirmed 40 drowning fatalities, primarily among young people seeking unauthorized relief from the intense heat, as well as the heat-suspected deaths of two young children found in a car and three elderly individuals near Bordeaux.

Spain is grappling with its first official heatwave of the year, with the national weather service, Aemet, issuing red warnings for "extraordinary danger" across major portions of the country. Southern Andalusia is bracing for searing peak temperatures of up to 44°C ( while normally temperate northern coastal regions like Cantabria and the Basque Country are seeing thermometers hit a rare 40°C . The heat is relentless even after dark, with multiple southeastern weather stations in Almería reporting grueling "super-tropical nights" where temperatures fail to drop below 30°C , depriving residents of vital physiological recovery time. Public events are being canceled nationwide, including major outdoor sports viewings, to protect citizens from severe heat exhaustion.

Italy is similarly under intense pressure as a scorching air mass pushing up from subtropical North Africa sweeps across the peninsula. The Italian Ministry of Health has issued its highest level red heatwave alert for 15 major cities, including the capital city of Rome and the northern financial hub of Milan. Forecasters predict daytime highs will widely reach or surpass 40°C in central and southern locations like Florence, prompting emergency services to brace for a surge in heat stroke admissions. While specific real-time casualty numbers for this week are still being aggregated by local health authorities, Italian public health officials are treating the situation as a severe threat to vulnerable populations, advising tourists and residents alike to stay indoors during peak hours.

In the UK, temperature have also reached a shocking-high, Met Office reported that the heat will increase on Tuesday, with highs of 37°C forecast for southern England and 35°C in southeast Wales. The peak of the heatwave is now forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, when temperatures are expected to climb to at least 39°C and there remains a chance of this being exceeded in places. Yesterday, the Met Office has issued a Red Extreme Heat Warning for Wednesday and Thursday, in counties, including:

  • London

  • West Midlands (including Birmingham)

  • East Midlands (including Nottingham)

  • South East England (including Reading, Oxford, and Kent)

  • South West England (including Salisbury and Somerset)

  • East of England (including southern Cambridgeshire)

  • Southern Wales (extending as far west as Swansea)

An Amber Heat Warning, where they are still experiencing a dangerous temperature, for:

  • North West England (including Manchester and Liverpool)

  • Yorkshire and the Humber (including Leeds and Sheffield)

  • North East England (including Newcastle and Sunderland)

  • Mid and Northern Wales

And a Yellow Heat Warning is issued for Northern England and parts of Northern Ireland, elderly and children are expected to be affected as well.

By Friday conditions will be less hot, with highs of 32°C forecast across eastern areas.

Overnight temperatures will also be very high, with widespread Tropical Nights, where the temperature does not drop below 20°C, across parts of England and Wales, especially in urban areas. Humidity is also a factor, making this heatwave even more impactful with heat stress a danger to all.

It is highly likely that the UK will experience a new broken record for June hottest temperature, previously, the record is kept at 35.6°C but we expect it to be broken by tonight. Wales is also on track to easily break its individual June record of 33.7°C (set in 2000).

In the UK, over 300 schools are closed for Wednesday and Thursday due to the extreme weather forecast. As schools in Birmingham, such as Bishop Vesey's Grammar School, Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls and Arthur Terry School are closed. Special Educational Needs (SENs) schools largely remain open for students but it is not recommend for anyone to travel in the weather.

France 1-0 Iraq, Suspended due to Thunderstorm

Tenberal correpsondent Simon Wong reports, assistive technologies may have been used in this article to improve speed and accuracy:

The FIFA World Cup 2026 Group I match between France and Iraq took place at the Philadelphia Stadium (Lincoln Financial Field) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. France went into the half-time break leading 1-0, thanks to a clinical opening goal from superstar forward Kylian Mbappé in the 13th minute. The high-stakes tournament game saw intense action early on, including a yellow card for Iraq's Amir Al-Ammari and an early substitution for the Iraqi side, before weather conditions drastically disrupted the flow of the match.

Heavy downpours began lashing the pitch around the 35th minute, forcing officials to announce an official weather delay right at half-time. While the immediate forecast indicates the worst of the storm system could pass in about 30 minutes, the official restart time depends on strict safety regulations. Under FIFA and United States lightning safety protocols, play can only safely resume after a clear 30-minute window has passed without any lightning detected within an 8-mile (13-kilometer) radius of the stadium.

Beyond the heavy rain and lightning, local authorities and stadium scoreboards issued urgent safety alerts, including a severe tornado warning for the region shortly after the match kicked off. Fans in the stands were instructed to leave their seats and seek immediate shelter within the stadium concourses. Because tournament rules dictate that any newly detected lightning strike completely resets the 30-minute countdown timer, fans and players remain on high alert for extended delays as the volatile weather system moves through the area.

If the match is eventually postponed or rescheduled due to the severe weather, your original ticket automatically remains valid for the new date and time, so you will not need to buy a new one or exchange it. However, because you have already entered the stadium and your ticket has been scanned, refunds are generally not offered for simple time or date shifts unless the match is permanently canceled and never replayed. Should FIFA officially reschedule the match to a completely different date or venue and open a refund window, they will notify you directly via email with strict deadlines to apply. Keep in mind that any external personal expenses, such as travel and hotel bookings, are not covered by FIFA and will not be reimbursed.

Keir Starmer has resigned - who do we expect to take his place?

Tenberal correspondent Simon Wong and Simarpreet Singh report:

Sir Keir Starmer has announced his resignation as Prime Minister following months of political pressure, disappointing election results, and growing dissatisfaction within the Labour Party.

Starmer, who led Labour to government after years in opposition, said he would remain in office temporarily while the party selects a new leader. His resignation marks a significant moment in British politics and begins what is expected to be a highly contested leadership race.

Some of our correspondents noted that public confidence in the government had fallen in recent months. Critics pointed to economic concerns, internal party divisions, and policy disputes as factors that contributed to growing dissatisfaction.

Supporters of Starmer, however, praised his efforts to stabilise the country and argued that he faced difficult challenges during his time in office. They thanked him for his years of public service and warned against judging his premiership solely on its final months. One of the major allies of Starmer, David Lammy (the current deputy prime minister), defened him, highlighting his "strength of character" and  "fightingf experience." He has also criticised the Labour Party for "introspection and infighting."

Biggest opposition party, Reform UK and Conservatives leaders- Nigel Farage and Kemi Badenoch- claiming that Britian is facing an extreme political instability and "demands an election" for radical changes to be made while, Badenoch claimed that Starmer's downfall was because he "failed on national security" and "welfare spending," promising Conservatives could do better.

Liberal Democrats' Ed Davey, on the other hand, criticised the "rapid turnover of national leadership", as no prime minister has served a full, uninterrupted five-year parliamentary term from start to finsih since David Cameron's  first government.

Tenberal News' motto is Truth Needs Arguing, and that is what we still believe in. Even though, critics may say that Starmer is not suitable for its role, from its early governing as former Director of Public Prosecution and as Member of the Parliament, he is a rare example of flourishing person in politics and perhaps, his initial intention is really to help but it just turned out to be worse. However, undeniably, Starmer has brought us a few successes.

On social and legal reform, the administration delivered verifiable structural shifts. In terms of immigration, official ONS figures showed that net migration to the UK fell significantly under Labour, dropping by 171,000 people in 2025—a 48% decrease compared to the previous year. Domestically, the government successfully passed the Renters’ Rights Act, a definitive legal milestone that officially abolished section 21 "no-fault" evictions and strengthened statutory protections for 11 million renters. Furthermore, the government officially abolished the hereditary peer system in the House of Lords through passed legislation.

In terms of climate policy, the administration’s actions were rooted in binding legislative and industrial milestones. The government formally passed the Great British Energy Act (May 2025), legally establishing Great British Energy as a publicly owned operation headquartered in Aberdeen to co-invest in clean infrastructure. In terms of energy grid changes, the government immediately used executive planning powers to lift the decade-long de facto planning ban on onshore wind farms in England. Additionally, the definitive closure of the UK's final coal-fired power station at Ratcliffe-on-Soar occurred under this administration, legally making the UK the first G7 nation to completely end coal-fired electricity generation.

Economically, the government’s  saw measurable shifts in macroeconomic indicators verified by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Real quarterly GDP growth stabilized to a 1.4% expansion across 2025, and in the first quarter of 2026, the economy grew by 0.6%, temporarily making the UK the fastest-growing economy in the G7 for that quarter. Concurrently, following a period of extreme fiscal tightening and a stabilizing inflation drop to 2.8% in early 2026, the Bank of England sequentially cut the base interest rate six times under this government, dropping it from a peak of 5.25% down to 3.75%, which verifiably lowered borrowing and mortgage pressures across the market.

We still expect the social media ban for under-16s to be in place as legislation, however, there may be possible delays for the leadership arrangement as this is agreed as a majority across parties and Starmer's allies has publicly said that this legislation would be Starmer's "legacy."

Andy Burnham, former Mayor of Greater Manchester are expected to run, with support from post Health Secretary Wes Streeting. However, it is possible that Angela Rayner and Rachel Reeves to join the contest, as supported by trade unions and working-class (well, maybe not for Reeves), but their support is not as solid as Andy Burnham.

The coming weeks are expected to be crucial for both Labour and the wider political landscape as the party seeks a new leader and attempts to rebuild public confidence.

Could UFOs exist - Questions raised as the administration released new UAP files

As of the 12th of June 2026, the U.S. Department of War has published the third release of the Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena files (UAP files). These files cover documents and videos related to both UFOs and UAPs.

The 72 newly released files consist of the following:

  • 53 documents
  • 10 images
  • 6 videos
  • 3 NASA audio recordings

These files cover glowing orbs spotted moving in the sky, primarily in Northeast USA and Western USA, however there have also been reports of sightings around the world. These files date back to the 1940s with the most recent reports taking place in 2026.

The files include reports from the CIA, Department of War, FBI, Intelligence Community Agency, NASA and the US Government.

One report taking place in 2026 speaks of an eyewitness returning home at approximately 9:15PM. As they were pulling into their driveway, which slopes downhill towards their residence, they noticed an intense, bright light hovering below the tree line in the middle of their backyard. Later on in the report, another witness described the light as a red sphere about one metre in diameter. Whether this light was a UFO or not has not been confirmed. This entire report is also based on an interview between the witness and interviewing agents, so a question of whether this report is legitimate could be raised.

The image above is an artistic recreation of a reported incident near a sensitive national security sight in western United States. It involves two UAPs over a period of two days in October 2023. The image is based upon a first-hand description provided by a federal law enforcement special agent.

The Department of War reported that the officer states, "It started the first night with other teams reporting weird lights moving along in groups miles away. From my vantage point I could not see them, though in theory should have been able to."

Later on in the report the witness then says, "As we (another crew member) headed through a valley area we suddently noticed a large glowing ball to our right 90 degrees from where we were. It looked like it was between us and the hill face, and initially i guessed it was 500 to 600 metres away, though another day I was able to use a range finder to put the distance to the hillside about 1100 metres away." The witness described the ball as, "a circle of light that looked like a swirly pattern of bright lava."

There are many reports like these two, however we can get an idea of what is going on by the two reports. There is a common theme throught the reports of 'glowing balls of blinding light'. The reports are also not solely based in America. One of the earliest reports in this release is one released by the CIA regarding a sighting in Harare, Zimbabwe. However this sighting was seen directly above the Harare airport and is often debated to be a government device.

The question of ailiens existing has lingered over humanity for a substantial amount of time. But does this artiacle prove the existence of UFOs. The answer is no. Despite many unexplained encounters with UAPs throughout history, which could be extraterrestrial life, most ecounters with UAPs have been explained. Most turn out to be balloons, drones, aircraft, satellites, atmospheric effects and sensor or camera artifacts.

In conclusion there are a range of answers found in these reports, however there seem to be more questions. Whether these reports are reliable, or whether they are extraterrestrial life are questions left unanswered, so what do you think about these reports. Do you think it is just small anomalies and nothing special, or do you think it is something more than that, something extraterrestrial?

Tenberal Opinion - Under-16s Social Media Ban: Is it Helping or Destroying Teenagers' Lives?

Tenberal Opinion, Tenberal correspondent Simon Wong reports: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer pictured at a news conference announcing the social media ban on Monday.

Following Spain and Australia's ban on social media for under-16s, the Labour government under Sir Keir Starmer has joined and introduced a new ban on social media for under-16s. As part of this, the government will now require social media platforms to have strict policy regarding their age-verifying protocols. Earlier in May, in a government's consultation for the ban has over 116,000 respondents and of which, according to the limited data avaliable, just over 40% of the repsondents agree to this (despite we expected more). This is a detailed breakdown of the information we are aware of:

Sector Total Consultation Responses % of Total Sector Participating Overall Opinion
Parents & Carers 54,127 (Combined survey & panel) ~0.38%

~90% Agree with the ban.

~10% Disagree.

Children & Young People 14,130 (Combined survey & panel) ~0.11%

~66% Agree under-16s should be blocked on some apps.

~34% Disagree with full blanket blocks.

Full Consultation / Professionals

24,813 (Full surveys & emails)

~4.1% Broad Support from unions for safer environments, but Disagreement from select children's commissioners fearing unregulated spaces.
Organized Campaigns 33,141 (Template submissions) N/A Split between targeted child-safety advocacy groups and digital rights campaigns.
TOTAL 116,211 ~0.44% Expected to be in favour of legal age thresholds for safety.

The ban is spanning across most common social medias in the UK, including Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and X (formerly Twitter). The government has also banned features allowing livestreaming or communication with strangers, romantic AI chatbots for under-18s and potentially, considering overnight curfews and enforced breaks in infinite scrolling for under-18s. We expect the ban to be in place by Sping 2027 and the Independents reported that Ofcom is researching on Highly Effective Age Assurance (HEAA) technological measures, which may include facial age estimation, photo ID, or bank checks.

The following section of the report is part of Tenberal Opinion, the opinion is solely to the writer or contributor and do not necessarily represent the opinions of Tenberal News.

It is not definitely not a difficult job to consider the countless potential failures of the ban: consider the efficiency of the ban and the frankly, attack on freedom of expressional and democracy: values that the UK government has long-valued for. As journalists, we have the responsibility to tell you the most perspectives as possible and this is also as part of our motto: Truth needs arguing. Unquestionably, the ban for under-16s will bring some advantages, such as:

  • Protects under-16s from the anxiety, depression, sleep deprivation, and body image issues that social media has brought, according to the government.

  • Removes access to persuasive design features like infinite scroll and loop notifications, giving children back control over their attention span.

  • Eliminates 24/7 digital vectors for online harassment, exclusion, and social anxiety outside of school hours, as well as exposure to online grooming and other sexual inapporpriateness.

  • Encourages time for vital real-world activities, including physical exercise, face-to-face friendships, hobbies, and focused schoolwork.

However, considering the impact of the ban will bring, is it necessary for a full ban on social media for under-16s or should government lead social media platform into implementing stricter control for its content, as Starmer have said, "I am not prepared to compromise." If Ofcom is going to research on technologies that verifies ages, then why not spending more time to limit what the offender can do on the social media.

Not only this, the social media ban could have immense impact on children's lives, just to name a few:

  • It could be considered as an attack on freedom of expression as children no longer have a platform to express their opinion and gained access to information, or connections with others.
  • Children now lacked the ability to verify what's true and what's false, which is a fundamental skills for future lives.
  • This ban affects the UK, from its societal impact to the economy, and only 0.44% of all people in the UK have responded. Previously, we have seen a public vote on Brexit and it is plausible to consider the social media ban as important as Brexit.
  • Tenberal News' independent survey suggested that a majority of 80% children disagreed with the ban and believed that social media brought valuable  times, memory and connection with other people. In our survey, one repsondent asked, "If the government allowed teenager at 16 years old to join the army, and not scrolling on social media?"
  • According to our investigation, over 60% of teenagers still have at least one account on a social media platform in Australia and Spain. Should anyone happen to discover the mythical, flawless age-verification system, I am certain that Pedro and Anothony are eagerly awaiting for it.
  • Teachers organisation and media giants, like Meta, have pointed out that children tend to move to unregulated platforms if such ban is in place.
  • This is perhaps the biggest flaw of the system: privacy. Age verification means that the device and the government now gain access to your perosnal data: such as your facial features and your credit card information. Back in 2008, Lord Justice Sedley of Court of Appeal had argued for a universal DNA database, and this has been rejected by the Labour's Gordon Brown due to privacy and civil liberties concern. If the government has prioritise the importance of privacy and civil liberties over deduction of crime detection rate. Why has Starmer's government repeatedly taking away the basic human rights that everyone deserved?
  • Children have to learn anyways, under-16s have schools to educate them about their experience on social media and have government-checked mental health support, but as they dropped out of compluusory schooling, they are allowed to go on these platforms without any education.
  • Last but nor least, cultural minorities, children with rare medical condition, non-governmental organisation and the LGBTQIA+ communities may required financial and mental healths support from the social media and banning social media for them could take away their lifelines.

The biggest question here is: are there any better ways to ensure the safety of children on social media? Yes, there is, social media giants have been developing their tools in preventing the exploitation of their platform, in our investigation, searching for terminologies that perhaps lead to these exploitations resulted in a page with community guidelines and platforms like, Snapchat, Tiktok, has offered parental  control features. Also, with the developement of AI, would the better way be having more regualtion and allowing parents to have more controls than strict regulation?

The social media ban is expected to be very controversial and you have the power to take your side.

How Spain VS Cape Verde depict the World Cup's virtues

Tenberal correspondent Simon Womg reports, first published on 15.06.2026, edited on 21.06.26

Tenberal Opinion

Instead of the expected shock-to-the-system thrashing by Spain, it was the underdogs, Cape Verde, who truly caught everyone's eye with their disciplined organisation and ironclad defence. Their 40-year-old goalkeeper, Vozinha, made seven incredible saves, which, combined with the team's unified defensive effort, successfully kept a clean sheet.

In fact, face-to-face with a Spanish side that was expected to cruise to an easy victory, Cape Verde looked like the more cohesive and focused team. This was especially true during stoppage time, when an unmarked header from a corner kick nearly rewrote the destiny of both nations. Fortunately, lady luck smiled on Spain, preventing a truly shocking upset—though it was still more than enough to make them break a sweat.

What was expected to be a goal-fest ultimately ended in a scoreless draw. While it wasn't technically a defeat, Spain's failure to find the back of the net despite 27 shots on goal feels like a massive upset for the heavy favourites. Conversely, for Cape Verde, a draw felt just like a victory, as they "won" their first-ever World Cup point in history.

Across the years, World Cup is no longer a stage only for world-class footballers from stronger nations, like Spain, England etc. It is about how football teams across the world showing the best of their countries: their culture, their lives, through the connection of football, and this is what the World Cup means. In fact, spectacular underdogs matches have been seen in this World Cup: Bosnia and Herzegovina had drew with World No.12 Italy in the World Cup Qualifiers.

A single point in the World Cup is never easily earned, let alone when taken from the world number-two ranked team and title favourites. It is only natural that tears welled up in their eyes—they absolutely earned it.

Anthropic's Two New AI Models Are Posing As A Potential Global Threat

Anthropic's new AI models Fable 5 and its sister model Mythos (both released on the 9th of the June) have already been on the radar of many global superpowers, and banned, due to it posing as a security threat to governments, International security, cybersecurity companies, and more.

Anthropic AI Logo Vector - (.SVG + .PNG) - Logovtor.Com

These two new AI models made by Anthropic (the company who made the AI model Claude) were meant to be state-of-the-art pieces of software exceeding the expectation of any AI model yet. Fable 5 is an AI with unbelievable outcomes and results but with "safety limits on" and has been distributed to the general public, while its sister program Mythos is the same AI engine but with safety limits off and has been distributed only to cyber security companies, governments and other national security organisations.

Due to the sheer power, danger and potential,  the AI engines have been banned from public use just three days after being released. This was ordered by the US government, and the exact reason was that it could be used as hacking intelligence which could cause world wide cyber attacks due to the power of these two engines and it would be incredibly hard to stop if one had started. In addition, the UK AI security team found that Mythos could successfully bypass cyber defences 73% of the time.

To summarise, AI, and the use of it is growing every minute with new software and ideas being sprung to life, and although it's an incredibly useful piece of software and it will certainly speed up human advancement, if we do not take precautions or develop AI too far, it may be too advanced or fall in the wrong hands.
